Terms and Conditions

These terms govern your use of Feint, a browser-based tool for writing on and reviewing exam-paper PDFs.

Last updated 5 September 2026

1. Agreement and independence

By using Feint, you agree to these Terms and Conditions.

Feint is an independent tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) or any other exam board.

2. What Feint provides

Feint lets you:

  • upload a PDF and type or draw over its answer areas;
  • look up past NZQA papers through an independent third-party archive;
  • save documents in your browser and reopen them later; and
  • export a completed or resumable PDF.

Feint is a study and practice tool. It is not a substitute for actual exam conditions and must not be used to obtain unauthorised help during an assessment or to complete work that must be done independently.

3. Eligibility

Feint is intended for students. If you are under 18, use Feint with the awareness of a parent, guardian, or teacher where appropriate, and only if you are permitted to agree to these terms in your location.

4. Your content and documents

You retain any rights you have in content you type, draw, or upload. Feint does not claim ownership of your answers, uploaded documents, or exported work.

You are responsible for ensuring that you have permission to use any document you upload. Exam papers and other learning materials may be protected by copyright. Use them only as allowed by the rights holder and applicable law, and do not redistribute or republish them without permission.

You are responsible for keeping copies of important work. Browser data can be lost if you clear site data, change devices or browser profiles, use private browsing, or encounter device or browser failure.

5. Privacy

Feint stores its document library locally in your browser by default. The Privacy Policy explains what is stored, which optional features send requests to third parties, and the choices available to you.

6. Third-party services

Feint may connect directly from your browser to the independent NZQA.toasting.me archive when you search for or download a past paper. The archive has its own terms and policies. Feint does not control and is not responsible for its content, accuracy, availability, security, or conduct. References to third-party names do not imply endorsement.

7. Writable-line detection

Writable-line detection can occasionally miss, merge, or misplace answer areas. You are responsible for checking and correcting the detected writing areas before relying on them.

8. Acceptable use

You must not use Feint to:

  • gain an unfair or unauthorised advantage in an assessment;
  • upload, process, or distribute content in a way that infringes another person's rights;
  • break the law or encourage unlawful activity;
  • interfere with Feint or a connected third-party service; or
  • attempt to gain unauthorised access to systems, data, or accounts.

9. Availability and changes

Feint may change, suspend, or discontinue features, including integrations with third-party services. We do not promise that Feint will always be available, uninterrupted, error-free, or compatible with every PDF, device, or browser.

10. Disclaimers

Feint is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the extent permitted by law, no warranties are given about accuracy, reliability, availability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

11. Liability

To the extent permitted by law, Feint's creator or operators will not be liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the service, including lost work or assessment outcomes. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded, including applicable rights under New Zealand consumer law.

12. Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated as Feint changes. The revised terms apply from the date shown at the top of this page. If you continue using Feint after that date, the revised terms apply to your continued use.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand. Nothing in this section limits any mandatory rights you have under the law that applies to you.
